I think this Renee Good thing has sincerely broken my wife’s brother’s brain. He was never a Trump supporter, but not really political, either, kind of a vague lib. But after this, he’s been sending meme after meme and clip after clip to my wife talking about how much ICE and cops suck and stuff, each one getting increasingly rage filled.

Anyone else got any fun examples of seeing your lib, or even chud, friends, family, or coworkers getting increasingly radicalized? (In a good way, this is /c/bloomer)

My parents finally admitted that violent revolution is the only real option for real change and that all other things are stalling tactics at best.

Getting them to actualize that reality in their day-to-day life will probably never happen, but the fact that they have not only admitted that I was and have been correct about this stuff, but also that they are now arguing it with their liberal siblings is very funny to watch.

There has been a real shift in thinking, now is the time to use that to begin the long and tedious process of actually building a revolutionary cadre in this country. My only hope is that we will not be too late.

It cracks me up every time when someone meets me 25-75% of the way and then I see them get absolutely stonewalled by a liberal who hasn’t moved an inch (yet?). It’s like “you see now what I’ve had to deal with?”

A now-former bluemaga freak I know who had long made countless repugnant arguments against supporting anything to the left of Biden (and I don’t even mean Biden’s handful of faux-progressive lies, I mean Biden’s actions) just a few days ago told me that liberalism (in the sense that we mean it!) has no redeeming qualities and must be done away with, though I think this person’s positive stance is more that of a utopian/naive socialist than a Marxist atm. Still a wild improvement.

Well most of my friends are already radicalized but a former FBI agent I am tangentially related to (friend of a friend’s dad) said “I am starting to understand why the bolsheviks felt the way they did” in regards to the ICE murder in Minneapolis. It ain’t much but its a wild thing to hear from a former fed.

Yes. To the point where I’ve seen people use talking points that I’ve only seen people use on places like here.

I’m seeing a lot more of “Dems are on the same side as republicans, the side of capitalism.” Which would have been wild to see anywhere that isn’t tankie space a short while ago. A lot more anti-lib stuff from a leftist perspective.

each one getting increasingly rage filled.

Make sure he is nudged toward general strikes and a moratorium on consumption, rather than potentially toward lone wolf stuff.

I got a few coworkers that I’ve become friends with. Most are libertarian-flavored but some lean socialist libertarian. I’m working on one of them but he’s a bit hella ADHD so it’s been a trip. I also did a standard issue wall of text with another trying to help him navigate the negative propaganda around socialism. He’s a real “French Revolution” kind of dude so there is something there, I think. I got another coworker that posts some socialist leaning stuff and even interacts with my socialist posting on Facebook. I pegged him as libertarian but I think he’s a closet socialist. Another coworker is my guitarist for my band project and he’s said a few things that lead me to believe he’s radicalizing.

It’s funny because even though I’ve taken a step down from organizing, It feels like I’m still in the trenches.

My wife will waver from being a tankie that knows the American narrative around Stalin is bullshit, to backsliding into some soft liberalism during peak election season. She’s really busy and doesn’t always have the mental space to ponder the connections between capitalist production, our social/legal order, and each new horror you see in the daily news, but this shooting has felt really tangible (she knows someone who knew Renee Good very well) to her and gave her a serious comnunist brainworm infestation.

Our breakfast conversation was like this: Wife - pepe-silvia Me - back-to-me

  • I understand that this is US spesific probably, but I’ve seen so much of it in the last year or two that it makes me a bit bloomer (although things are grim and getting worse).

Most of my family has shifted left, although they still firmly stay inside elected politicians, but they are all now going to vote for what is the nato left. These people were Greens, socdems at best before. It’s also ok to talk shit about the EU, capitalism and nato to them more and more.

Everyone hates the current government. I do not know a single person who is happy with the way things are going. Looking at comments online you see the natohawks, libs and warmongerers but in the real world it looks very different. Tbf I am in a bubble of sorts with my work being in civil service and studies in social sciences, but still.

People are pissed and drawing conclusions.

I should’ve specified it in the original post it doesn’t have to be the US specifically, because I’m actually really curious if capitalism’s increasing contradictions is having an effect on libs and chuds from other parts of the world, too.

    Just thought of another one.

I overheard a conversation with my wife’s mother and their family friends. They were talking about how much Trump sucks. But then it started getting a little too “everything the government does sucks” for my taste, but my Mil busted out this one. I don’t remember exactly how it went but something along these lines.

Family Friend: “And I also heard in San Francisco they want to take the money from people who make a certain amount and give it to the homeless!”
MIL: “I mean, I’m okay with that one.”
FF’s Husband: “Maaaybbe… I mean, I guess it depends on how much they take and from who…”
MIL: “Right, but actually helping homeless people I don’t mind. Hell I’d call myself a socialist.”

And I was so surprised! Not sure she’d use our definition, but still amazing progress. This is a woman who had to learn about racial dynamics and stuff like that during the BLM protests. But now she’s okay with calling herself a socialist!
