Hexbear is not an org, but it’s a community, and when we use federated instances, we are (in part) representing all of us. Same goes IRL, I’m not always 100% on point, but when I’m representingnmy org in anyway, I want to be on my best behavior, so it reflects well on my friends and comrades.

I’m asking for the same courtesy from my online comrades, especially because I think this community has about 18 months to live unless we change some things up.

I think our community should be more conscious about being good guests on other instances.

I think your question is reasonable, but Im curious about the response you’ll get. There are valid reasons why prior won’t want to share, but the concern for self doxxing is one of my least favorite aspects of this community.

If you watched this one, it’s a rare case where id suggest watching one of the other angles. This one will directly skew or perception of the incident (which is why it was released by the right wing).

Same reason you sometimes see “liberal blue hair girl” with “Quiet, conservative (but inwardly quite MAGA) guy” paired up. The chuds can tolerate it cause it doesn’t challenge white supremacy.

I mean I’ve been vocal recently about how I think our community has a lot of room for improvement (largely with regards to our conduct. I’m not a big emote user and all communities except for one that doesn’t get used are federated.

One example is that due to our history, Hexbear feels targeted, and there’s an aversion to opsec/self-doxxing. This is understandable, but weakens the community. Due to our history, I don’t think this attitude would be reversible on Hexbear.
