CNN, quoting a doctor: Security forces in Nishapur have killed at least 30 protesters with military-grade weapons. Among them was a five-year-old child who was shot while in their mother’s arms. Security forces also left many injured and fired at pedestrians and bystanders.

Yes, but the people who are using it that way are doing it as a cover so they can just cosplay lynching a black person. Now I’m not sure exactly how it works, but I think you still might not get all comments, only the comments made in the communities that are now synchronizing to your instance. Communities are the vector for syncing. Users I think are synced as an extension of syncing the posts in the communities you follow. The syncing doesn’t start with the user, for example, and then spider out from there. So you could end up with discrepancies in the comments between your instance and Hexbear, but it should be the vast majority of them, since most people on Hexbear stick to the local view.

It should I think. I haven’t tested it myself but once subscribed to a community you get history from that server for the community.

So I think it’s at least a partial history. It might cut off at some predetermined point but I haven’t investigated how it works fully.
