Had some fun with this. Rules:

  1. When a tankie post comes up, post a legitimate, fair argument. Do not argue in bad faith. No matter how nasty the post may be. Legitimately combat the disinformation there by going into their bubble and posting a sane response.
  2. Watch the responses come in. Especially if the post is on the tankie triad.
  3. Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t respond to anything, unless there is actually a legitimate attempt to have a legitimate discussion. Otherwise, start a game of tankie bingo to help prevent yourself from responding to the madness.

Suggestions for expansion welcome.

Dude I think tank man is straight up liberal kryptonite seeing how far these people are going to defend their fantasies of the guy getting executed. You hit them with the video of the tanks stopping in their tracks to wait for the road to clear, then they invariably say that they’re sure he was executed regardless, and then they unwind completely when pushed on why they think this way. It’s the cognitive dissonance that never stops giving.

My fucking school textbooks went this route. We weren’t actually shown the video of course but the description went something along the lines of “the tanks stopped, the guy talked with the tank crews, and he walked away never to be seen again”. It didn’t outright state that the CCP disappeared him but that’s the conclusion they clearly wanted you to reach

I’ve started spouting crazy conspiracy theories in response. “Oh yeah and Hillary Clinton is a reptile. I’ve as much evidence for that anyways, and the vibes right.” It’s not constructive, but at that point you’re arguing with a fantasist anyway

Actually Tank Man is Xi Jinping. Xi was 36 at the time of the protests. His early political career started in Hebei, which is close enough. Allegedly he was in fujian province, but I know for a fact he took a day-trip to Beijing. This is also why he’s building so much highspeed rail. It’s because making that trip was a real pain back in the day. Also why he stopped the tanks, he was asking for a ride.

Stopping a tank to ask for a ride does sound like the kind of ballsy shit some of the original Bolsheviks were known for. Glad to hear our current vanguard leaders are upholding a proud tradition of the communist movement.
