Everyone is reading this wrong. I have said it since Trump was elected the last time: the Democrats will want to maximize punishment for the voters who did not turn out for Kamala.
Remember right after Trump’s (second) surprise victory, the libs were laying all the blame on pro-Palestinian supporters and the Latinos who went for Trump, and were screeching about deporting those Latinos back to their home countries?
You might have forgotten, but the Democrats haven’t. This is one big punitive, disciplinary action: you want to support Palestine? We make sure Trump will make Gaza even worse. They did that. And they’ll continue to support ICE because they believe that the immigrant population has “betrayed” the role that has been assigned to them.
They are sending a clear message: you did this. You did not vote for Kamala. And this is what you deserve. And we won’t pander to you anymore and we’ll do it on our terms. If you had any bargaining chance with us before, that is gone. Now go and enjoy the Trump presidency and experience how much you regret for not turning out for Kamala Harris.
They want the pain to sting. The more painful it is, the more you’ll remember come election time why didn’t you vote the last time. How many people will fold? That’s the question.
I don’t think they’re trying to punish people for making them lose. Democrats want people to vote for the Republican. They say that they love Republicans all the time. I think that the Democrat establishment genuinely wants to do the same thing as Trump admin. It’s a uniparty. Democrats didn’t even try to win the last election. They ran a corpse as the presidential candidate. They tried to lose. What’s the purpose of a punishment? The Democratic establish doesn’t even want to win.
Democrats don’t care to punish people for not voting for them. That would require them to actually doing something. Their doctrine is inaction. Punishment would imply that Democrats want to win elections in the future; they don’t. Their only real goal is preserving the existence of the party.
Democrats are not resisting Trump doing these things because Democrat politicians also want those things to happen. They like that Trump bombed 7 countries. They like that the ICE is a racist militia. They like that Trump kidnapped Maduro. They like that Trump use sanctions as an extortion tool. They only provide the mildest criticism because they like the things that he did.
Democrat politicians don’t care that Kamala lost. Newsom actually say during the podcast with Ben Shapiro that he didn’t want Kamala to win. They are actually quite happy that Trump won.
They have to strike a careful balance between not winning but still plausibly being able to win. Their ideal year is one where they lose every single election by a single percentage point.
You’re not thinking big enough. The goal is not for the Democrats to win, but to exert a disciplinary action against people (and by extension, the entire voting class) who think they can leverage the democratic system to blackmail the bourgeois ruling class.
The message is not that “you have to vote Democrats next time”, it is “you are never going to get us to pander to you, so think carefully next time if you think you can undermine the system by sitting out the election. take what we offer and be grateful”.
No. You’re implying that democrats are way more competent than they actually are. While China plans in decades, the US plans in weeks. The Democrats do not have a “big picture”. There is no greater plan for Democrats. Their plan is “Does the Democrat party exist right now? Yes. What we can we do to make the Democrat party last 2 more weeks” and then they repeat that plan.
Democrats are not “maximizing punishment”. Democrats are just doing nothing. Republicans are maximizing the punishment on their own.
And it is waking people up to the farce of the two party system. I have lifelong Democrat voters expressing to me that I was correct and that the Democrats are part of the problem.
It isn’t working the way they want it to. Exactly as I have been saying. They can try to punish us and blame it on us all they want, they are just rapidly creating a larger base of actual resistance, and not just mealy-mouth platitudes.

Newsom does say that he supports transgender people but in a sort of spineless type of way; he says that he supports gender transition as a decision made by a doctor. Everything Gavin says is dogshit. He agrees with Ben on pretty much everything. Fuck Gavin Newsom.
The whole podcast is 2 hours long and it is pretty clear that the purpose is that he’s trying to signal civility politics. Ben Shapiro says that both sides are on wrong in the Renee Good shooting, that he thinks Trump is avoiding responsibility but also he likes ICE. Gavin Newsom says he agrees.
They are disagreeing about sanctuary cities. Gavin says he supports them and Ben opposes. Cops used to support sanctuary cities because undocumented migrants are more willing to report crimes. Racists hate sanctuary cities because they don’t want any migrants.
At 27 minutes in the podcast, Gavin Newsom says that Kamala Harris ran on abolishing ICE in 2024 and that he didn’t support Kamala for that reason. No the fuck she didn’t say abolish ICE. Kamala put out multiple campaign ads saying that she would fund ICE more than Trump would.
Ben spends a whole lot of time saying that Democrats shouldn’t take Trump’s threats seriously. An example being that Trump keeps saying he wants to run for a third term. He says like that Democrats are overreacting and that they should be happy to have the American system. That Democrats should be happy to lose because they still have opportunities. Is Ben getting notes from Chuck Schumer?
Ben talks about his previous employee Candace Owens blaming Israel for murdering Charlie Kirk and implies that she is wrong for using the tragedy to push a political agenda. Then Ben blames Charlie Kirk’s death on transgender people.
Ben talks about Tucker Carlson for the same reason as Candace Owens. Ben says that Tucker is too much of a populist. Ben says that Tucker Carlson has “Noam Chomsky foreign policy”. Gavin interrupts him to say that he has also read Chomsky.

Ben says that “Israel did not commit a genocide in Gaza” and that democrats are trying to say that they did. Gavin agrees. Gavin tries to be ambiguous and says that he can’t say that Israel committed a genocide because he doesn’t know the “legal definition” of genocide.
Gavin tries to do like a soft Zionism position by saying that he doesn’t like Netanyahu but he does like Israel… This is a common strategy for Democrats, they pretend to hate a designated villain but let the villain operate freely.
Gavin says “I like bringing the hostages home”. Gavin says “I’m crystal clear about denouncing Hamas. I’m crystal clear on my love for Israel. I’m crystal clear about my condemnation for Bibi.”
Ben says that Netanyahu is not right wing enough.
Ben says Iran is killing 10s of thousands of people in the streets. Gavin says that it was good when Trump bombed Iran. Gavin says he’s not afraid to say this and that he’s a free thinker.
Ben asks for Gavin to condemn transgender people. Gavin asks whether Ben would condemn Trump’s policies in support of gender affirming care during his first term. Ben boasts that his company has had a “no preferred pronouns policy” since 2015 and that his employees may only use “biological pronouns”. Gavin says that his position on transgender people is that it should be a decision between doctor and patient.
Near the end of the interview, Ben explains that his worldview (written in his book) is that there are 2 types of people, people who build vs people who destroy. Ben has previously said that he believes that Palestinians and Arabs are “people who destroy” and that Israelis are “people who build”. Then Ben says that people who try to do populism are “people who destroy”. If you try to make society more equitable, Ben says you are “people who destroy”. If you never try to change society, Ben says you are “people who build”.
Ben says that corporate landlords are an example of “people who build”. He says that corporate landlords offer better living conditions and rates than “mom and pop landlords”. He gives Charlotte NC as the example.
Gavin says that he wishes he had time to ask Ben about Xi.
In the last few minutes of the show, Gavins asks about future elections. Ben says that he thinks that Republicans will struggle in the midterms because Trump is not on the ballot. Ben says that Marco Rubio will be more likely to be the Republican President in 2028 than JD Vance.
