Ben Shapiro isn’t even a relevant figure on the right anymore. Gaza was a breaking point for The Daily Wire. In the fallout from it he alienated and boosted Candace Owens along with most of his other former staff. Now he’s taking on Nick Fuentes and losing because Shapiro’s base is the same 18-50 demographic that Fuentes and the other open antisemites target more effectively. His viewership has completely fallen off as he tries to die on the hill of “be every kind of bigot except antisemite”. There is no audience for Gavin Newsom to convince out of their politics.
If Newsom wins, he is going to be the most blue fash imaginable. He would crack your skull for just suggesting we reduce ICE funding at all. He already tries to use CHP as his own personal army, and CHP seems more violent than a lot of local police when it comes to riot response.
My best guess, showing you’re in touch with “the cool kids” and showing how dems have learned their lesson and how “we ain’t so bad”.

I can’t think of a democrat I trust less than Gavin Newsom. The openly right-wing ones are at least honest. The social fascists at least pretend to want a few of the same policy goals. Kamala Harris is at least too incompetent to lie about who she is. Newsom is one of those candidate-for-antichrist politicians who ooze the same energy as a used car salesman, but only seducing the most insufferable people you know. He’s competent enough to lie about who he is, but not competent enough to represent a lie worth believing in.

having ben shapiro on is funny because of how out of touch it is, that man is completely washed. the daily wire is running on momentum from their big initial investment but there’s no gas in the tank, so i suspect he only has about two years left, maximum, before he’s completely forgotten about (unless he manages to pivot to cbs which now that i say it seems extremely likely).

He’s doing it because so, so, so many people absorb and regurgitate right wing thought because it absolutely proliferates in our society (funny how that happens) and becomes the accepted default understanding of things (Immigrants? Bad. Feminism? Bad. Taxes? Bad. Democrats? They do taxes and give it to immigrants, bad).
Anyone who grew up in an “apolitical” or conservative community knows this already.
