Its about that time of the year to rewatch peep show yet again. There’s something about shows that cause me physical pain through shared embarrassment that releases happy chemicals in my brain.

This is a place of historical significance i must visit

When i went there i was immediately overwhelmed with the feeling of wanting to die after leaving the station and then I went to a cafe and the guy at the till was talking in notherner moon runes so I just smiled and nodded.

It does go on my list of favourite liminal british spaces alongside milton keynes, basingstoke, swindon, kings lynn and basildon

Microsoft never released it on steam so its a windows store exclusive. Its such a shame i feel like a steam release would revive that game, creative assembly just has so much talent

That and I find them to be massively ableist. Its why halo wars 2 is my favourite recent rts because first and foremost it has controller support. Secondly the developers made some of the best skirmish ai to exist where isnt of the usual cheating bots depending on difficulty they would adopt better strategies and even simulate micro so I could learn without being intimidated and tweak to the level im comfortable.

Oh and some of the most fun i had in sc2 seared into my memory was actually archon mode ladder. Because i didnt care for apm since im disabled it was actually super fun me being the base builder and my friend doing army management micro it was some of the best rts gaming ive had in my life.

I have a rather sordid history arguing with fighting game player types who try to apply their single digit player number logic to every single game so personally I dont bother. The second fighting games was mentioned i knew exactly where the conversation was heading.

Dont even bother arguing with people like this they exist in a world where they moralise ranked queue and think the only purpose to gaming is to be better than someone else. Rts has always been a casual genre the esport scene killed it entirely its why sc2 doesn’t have any players left.

Balanced apm dependant ranked rts gameplay is shit and always will be shit. The best features of sc2 were the campaign, coop, archon mode, custom content. Apm ladder hogs are niche and i dont want them in my genre

I unironically believe halo wars 2 could have saved that storyline better than what infinite did. I mean the main issue most people had with 5 was not being able to play as chief for most of it

Driver 1, 3 and san fransico is good fun. 3 is a weird janky fever dream of a game but real ass dynamic shadows for that era was wild with what looked like a very early specular it was rather striking. Also my parents let me actually play it so lots of love for my temu gta, 3 open world areas to drive around in with secrets and weird liminal energy all with different cars where istanbul was my favourite because of the old timey cars there i think it still had a fair bit to offer.

Ok let me boil down lib thinking “damn, glad i wasnt the one killed”. That’s it, the rest is performative. The reality is the system knows it cant strip everything from everyone instantly because riots will happen so it does so slowly and everyone just nods and goes along with it hoping its not them in the next round of shit.

Its like how a lot of businesses operate. Lay off x percent of staff where its not enough to tank everything immediately and you have most people sitting there hoping its not them. But when its the person next to them they breath a sigh of relief and pick up their work hoping to not get axed in next years layoffs. As long as its small enough numbers it doesnt matter how many people fall off the bottom over time as long as theres a chance its not you.
