She, along with the jock who lives with his grandparents, and the rocker kid who lives with his parents, feel teenage coded, but i haven’t got enough “heart events” or whatever to learn their complete backstories. Some of the abigail events are about how she’s not a “little girl” anymore and rebelling against her small business tyrant dad, which feels like she’s implied to be a teenager

There’s also the goth guy that lives in his parents basement, but he’s apparently the older half sibling of the also teenage-coded girl who’s apparently a nurse, which would make her early-mid 20s at least and him older than that

It’s intentionally ambiguous to let players of different ages project a little bit because there are only so many romance options and they need them to appeal to/be compatible with as many people as possible. It’s why they’re mostly archetypes with maybe a unique detail here and there.

I feel like this might be a small town / less affluent town thing. I always just assumed some of the young people in Stardew have that slightly arrested development and same living situation as they would as teenagers like lots of people who grew up in the country or towns that were hard to get out of do.

makes sense, even if they wanted to move out there aren’t any apartments to rent, and barely any jobs. just live with your dad and work part time at walmart while waiting for your music project to make it (it won’t)
