I’ve spent the last week checking on my neighbors, engaging with my city, my local police, everyone. I’ve supported my friends and family, made sure they knew they weren’t alone in their feelings of hopelessness, powerlessness. I’ve called and emailed my representatives, demanding answers, demanding action. I’ve just been overcome with this overwhelming, almost primal need to care for and support my community.
If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, and soldiers take to our streets, then that tears it for me. My son just turned 1yr. I’ve done my best to be a helper, so that I can still be around to support him and spend time with him.
But if I have to STAND OUTSIDE in the FREEZING COLD and get the SHIT KICKED OUT OF ME by the people who are supposed to be protecting me, if I have to do that to fight for goodness, and righteousness, and justice, then that’s what I’m gonna fucking do. I’m going to do it because this is not the future I want for my son.
If you’ve been out on the streets, and you’re tired, and you’re hurting, don’t worry. Rest when you need to. Because I know my home and I know my neighbors. When you need to rest, two more will replace you. I will be one of them.
This is my home. Minneapolis is not going to quit. Minnesota is not going to quit. And FUCK EVERYONE who tries to come in here and take from us the PRIDE, LOVE, and COMMUNITY we’ve built.

Most of this isn’t that bad, maybe the “engaging with the local police” is pretty fucking dumb, but I see a revolutionary in someone like this. So many people ready to be educated, who will otherwise be burned without revolutionary guidance.

I get the sentiment. But you should also understand that some of us are from the periphery and have lived under (or are still living under) the greatest immiseration machine in history, led by the US. From that position, it’s hard to be charitable toward the imperial-core “#resistance” model of angry parades and slogan-chanting. That approach has been used for at least two decades and has accomplished nothing. On top of that, a large share of these newly “radicalized” marchers don’t actually oppose imperialism at all, they just want the blue guy to give them back their treats and return to business as usual, where the periphery gets immiserated quietly and out of sight.

I’ve already had the conversation with my sister about this who lives a few states east of us. I’m not going anywhere. I’m non-violent and won’t pickup arms, but I’m going to still be screaming at the top of my lungs with both middle fingers in the air. I’m on a three day sitewide suspension for replying “Considering the current state of the world, not enough” on a post in r/debatecommunism asking about how many people communism supposedly killed. It happened literally within seconds of me posting the reply, they’ve automated the shit out of bans with AI or something and that’s obviously going to have an effect.
Yeah my guess is that if you have a more sober analysis of the situation and the risk you’re probably not mouthing off about it on Reddit.

I’m not banking on it by any means, but I’m HOPING once we finally get the Mandarin Mussolini out of office, whomever takes over will pardon people who were arrested for violence against ICE. That being said, it has to be SELECTIVE, unlike with J6, because people using it as an opportunity to encite violence don’t deserve to get out. His blanket pardons (or any pardons period) should not have happened.

Definitely true I was just mainly addressing this particular set of incidents and their precedent.
I can’t imagine taking up arms myself. I have no training and such a fear of violence. On the other hand I’m willing to fill any support role I can. From cyber warfare to medical assistance (not a doctor, but I can do first aid and take instructions) or delivering food or whatever else needs delivering.
And you know what? That’s okay. Violence is not for everyone and those who partake in it will come out shell shocked. Both my parents were guerrilla fighters and you could tell that they carried the ptsd with them long after the war.
Everyone has a role to play during these times and you should never feel like you’re useless or unable to help because you aren’t willing to be infantry.
