Image is of a protest in San Diego against ICE.
On January 7th, 37-year-old Renee Good was murdered by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. While a considerable amount of the discussion online has been about the direction her wheels were turning and things like that, truthfully, I think it’s just fundamentally bad to shoot a person to death with a gun if you happen to be a state mercenary enforcing an incredibly racist federal policy, regardless of the circumstances.
The murder has since prompted a wave of vigils and protests, not only in Minneapolis, but also in virtually every major city in the country. The demands are justice for Good in particular, and the abolition of ICE in general, to avenge its many victims. The Trump administration has done all they can to inflame the situation, designating Good a “domestic terrorist” and saying that the agent who shot her will be immune from prosecution.
Protests and resistance to this administration’s policies have, encouragingly, had an element of international solidarity - not only are flags from countries throughout Latin America (and also Palestine) present, but speakers in protests have even been actively condemning the recent imperialist actions against Venezuela. For it is, of course, one joint struggle. The imperial boomerang always returns - and in the modern day, it returns rapidly.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict
Sources:
Defense Politics Asia’s youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it’s just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists’ side.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.
Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:
Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster’s telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a ‘propaganda tax’, if you don’t believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.
Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:
Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

I’ve read that article and I disagree with how its presented. There are legitimate Muslim fundamentalist groups operating in Kerala, very regressive who are equivalent to Muslim version of RSS.
Very funny this is the only major thing they can pin on the state Government since they have nothing else. I agree, CPI-M does sometimes do tailism, but their hatred towards reactionary Muslim groups (see SDPI, who have killed CPIM workers) is valid.
CPI-M has always been against exclusionary policies of the BJP, they heavily opposed Citizenship Amendment Act., are pro Palestine and anti-Zionist.
This is their paper btw.
Being pro-Palestine doesn’t absolves anyone of being chauvinistic. Just ask a Moroccan what they think of Palestine, and what think of Western Sahara, for example. I normally don’t take Jacobin seriously, but they showed actual issues with CPI-M’s attitude towards Muslims, and it has terrible electoral consequences. Fascism growing in Kerala, as BJP elected their first state representative to Parliament in 2024. At the same time, the CPI(“Marxist”)'s results amongst the Muslim population in Kerala aren’t good, even with they opposing the CAA.
In the same election that elected a actual Hindu fascist to power, one would expect that Muslims would prefer to vote for the Left, which one would expect to be able to stand up against Hindutva chauvinism. But they mostly voted for the INC-allied Muslim League. Also, one of the websites the Jacobin linked implies that CPI(“M”)/LDF and BJP/RSS have some sort of link, both in their hate of Muslims, and in their love of Adani.
News media in Kerala is very much aligned with Congress. As for CPIM support for oligarchs’ certain projects, they run a state Government not central one. CPI-M’s likely fall in the elections later this year will largely be linked to economic issues, which are particularly hard to fix given the constraints they are under. Even the most ideologically ‘pure’ Communist party will struggle with this and will be voted out. Give CPI ML Red Star or whatever smaller Communist parties the state Govt and they will have to deal with the same constraints.
Easy for them to blame, criticize from far away. But where is the state Gov upposed to get the revenue from? They can’t raise sales taxes, they don’t collect income taxes, they don’t collect corporate taxes, they can’t run deficits themselves beyond a set limit (i think 3%). KIIFB (and others) were created to make it possible to spend on surplus generating projects by borrowing using a bank like entity.
If they can’t fix these issues, what is the point of disputing elections and getting elected, especially using Marxist symbology and terminology? And I’m not advocating for these other communist parties either.
They have done modest social democracy and improved social services. There are especially limits in employment generating measures, unfortunately. I think this year CPI-M will likely end up losing the last state Government they control. The liberals who win will not fix anything, likely making everything worse paving way for actual fascists. I do not think given the demographics and ideologies, the Hindutva fascists will be able to completely take over Kerala, but they’ll make some gains.
