  • Correct yes. HF/VHF is much harder to jam from air compare with higher frequency radar. Resolution is low to target but modern computer processing can make detailed enough information to combine. For stealth aircraft shaping and coating can not affect this frequencies at all, it is useless. Stealth is made for X band and Ku band. Longer wavelength will be less affected by stealth. Some breakthrough on other band above the range which stealth protect as well (but very sensitive, easy to jam, not much propagation). Enough data and can get a missile with imaging IR terminal guidance close enough to kill. Infrared sensor have advanced faster than countermeasure against. No countermeasure work any more for imaging sensor with good algorithm.

Jamming pod actually will make plane carrying it very vulnerable. Radar jammer is directional and emit a loud signal to jam. Passive and semi active type missile can «home on jam» follow the jam signal and IR terminal. Anti radiation missile from plane will also kill very easy. Difficult for poor country to counter it but not big power.

  • VHF/UHF is completely different properties from HF. Not related.

HF will see stealth and non-stealth the same.

I do not think is a reasonable assumption to make. US was very active in the coast for a long time and attack was very fast and low flying helicopter attack. Very different situation.

Radar probably could see but how to know that it is attack this close?

Definitely JY-27 family is not a primary sensor, is a surveillance radar. Can provide important initial tracking information which will allow other sensor system to find correct sector and vectors.

HF radar is a very different purpose. It is over the horizon strategic radar. The purpose is strategic information. Earliest warning and useful for directing. Can also be satellite-based.
