I’m pretty sure he is filming in the way he is to try to justify killing her. He’s got his phone basically pointing at the hood and had no reason to walk in front of the car.

He shoots her so quickly after she puts it into drive ( even with her visibly turning the wheel hard right when he is on the left), that he had to have the safety off and the gun either out or ready to be drawn to kill her that quickly.

This is reminding me that it would probably be relatively easy to get a determined group of people over the border and with enough cash they could buy whatever equipment they needed to do whatever they wanted.
