15·2 days agoInfrastructure is also so often ignored. I know years back when me and my friends were poor a lot of them were in some sort of rinkydink housing on account of being poor and what you get his maybe a mini-kitchennette, usually with no freezer and a minifridge which makes buying cheap and preparing bigger batches to save time so much harder
I’m not a wolfologist but both the type of fine motor skills to reinsert the magazine and the ear-scratch backwards rack bolt does not seem to be within the capability of the average or even a trained wolf

34·2 days agoA spokesperson did say their analysis showed “hundreds of thousands” of other options to eat healthy for $3 a meal, built around foods including poultry, cottage cheese, frozen broccoli, sweet and white potatoes, frozen blueberries, whole grain bread and butter.
no beans or pulses lol
You always get the feeling this sort of thing is heavily informed by what I call “gas price thinking” in that the anchor point for prices is the cheapest once in a year fluke deal you could find and then assume that is what things cost all the time

can you actually fry beans in the sense of a mailard reaction or is this just warming up? Because if former that’d be revolutionary to me

7·9 days agoLmao I’m also absolutely stuck on certain methodologies that I’ve found to work better than anything else, although most of those are knife safety things where if someone does it wrong I get anxious because it’s dangerous, to the point that I’ll insist on taking the knife away from them and chopping or peeling something myself if they won’t hold it right.
I know you hate to see me coming with my reasonably fast incredibly unorthodox knife cutting skills. You also can’t touch me lest I will pretty sure stab myself

8·9 days agoOh you invented putting cheese on bread, did you?
Jumping off of this: The foodsphere, even removed from the italians, knows a lot of “nooo that’s not correct”. The only thing as annoying as the italians though are the people who think the Earl of Sandwich invented that. It’s putting literally a thing in bread, people have been doing it since we have bread

1·12 days agoMissing the point, I like games both cause they’re fun and as an artform and for the latter part I’d like to get better at interacting with them as such. It feels both absolutely doable and I have no idea how you get your mind to do that

I always differentiate this in my head as “earliest proven example” and general industry trend and also into actual 0-improvements and diminishing returns and when I think about it it goes back so much more.
For general industry trends 2019 is the point of actual 0 improvements. Things lke CONTROL, Metro Exodus and the RE2Make look entirely indistinguishable from things released today. But then so does MGS V or even Ground Zeroes all the way back from a decade ago.
The point of diminishing returns sets in by 2007 first with Crysis though. Sure it was so much of a ressource hog nobody could run it at full fidelity but it’s laughable now and every bell and whistle added after doesn’t really do anything. Everything from 2019 could look like Crysis and that would be no difference at all. Then by 2010 the industry has basically caught up, Bad Company 2 doesn’t even look meaningfully different from 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2 manages to differentiate itself from 1 mostly by using the better part of a decade to get horse balls.
