This was one of my pet interests back when I didn’t have any political literacy. “It’s always 10 years away” I would rejoin with “if they actually funded it.”

I’m still of the mind that ‘fusion is 10 years a way’ enterally, we get ‘breakthroughs’ a couple of times a year(not to discount these advances but I don’t think they make actual fusion putting power into the grid any closer in a significant way), but I’ll believe when I see it

US-based Helion Energy secured the world’s first purchase agreement for nuclear fusion energy in 2023, promising to provide 50MW of fusion power to Microsoft by 2028.
