Yet they’ll be lecturing the people “violence is not the answer” and nagging people endlessly to donate as they proclaim the next election is the most important of our lifetime. Centrists will openly lurch to the right as they assume a massive victory for the fascists. Matty will have a unpaywalled article setting the tone. Fascism: Different places have different forms of government and it’s OK.

My political perspective is sort of warped. When it comes to politics I spend all my time here or at Bluesky. I also watch cable news at the top of the hour but not so much anymore. I turned on CNN earlier and after just about 60 seconds some vile “expert” started to give his horrible take on Renee Good’s murder. He said “The shooting is a Rorschach test for—” and that point I had to close the tab because I was in danger of going into a rage, grabbing my monitor, and smashing it into smithereens on my desk.
Seriously - I don’t think there’s anything Trump could do to get the democrats to act like the country was in danger. They’ll be in campaign mode until the midterms. And right after that they’ll segue into presidential election campaign mode. Recently they rediscovered swears as they do once in a while. And every single time I hear something like “ICE needs to get the fuck out of [local area]” - I want to scream. Getting far more likes and engagement is not actually action. Political messaging will not stop the fascists.
…and they can’t wait to use the revamped fascist machinery once they get into office themselves. As usual. They just ramp up their facade of opposition as Trump ramps up the audacity of his actions.
