One of my favorite things ever is seeing all the people I meet out of context to what I do, like at anime conventions, fandom spaces or around vintage and historical fashion, I love seeing them follow me and watch my stories and slowly start to interact with my revolutionary/educational content. Seeing it radicalize people!
It’s one of those things that feels like super effective outreach when we bleed our politics into our hobbies and let people build connections to those who also organize. I think this one of our super blind spots in activism Local activist spaces can be super incestuous and often the powerful moments and messaging don’t reach those who need to hear it or aren’t already in these spaces!
I’m already drawing ideas for more flyers and pins to make and handout at Emerald City Comic Con!
was looking at this video by lady izdihar and she talks about how she casually incorporates her politics in her regular hobbies which are often termed as escapist.
i think this is a cool way to have politics and also look like a normal pleasant palatable person. I think this is a sentiment which is often echoed by other leftwing creators who say being a “normal” person who can exchange casual pleasantries is essential to our movements.
this is often opposed to the mindset which can be developed by those chronically online - who can develop a debate bro mindset, which can be off putting. We should aim to be a person who as brace beldon said (paraphrasing) “a person people look up to”.
we are ultimately a worker among workers.
it reminds me a bit of that comrademck or “red” on tiktok where she does a bunch of community events, nail painting, hair stylist, food distribution under a banner for a better world though this doesn’t really tap into a pre-established community like izidihar does
i dunno, though, what are you examples of casually incorporating your politics in your daily life like an established community/hobby, which leaves a pleasant experience?

I’d write it but I’d skip the sex part because that bores me
