The Perry frigates had a 76mm gun. Replacing the CIWS with RAM is an interesting choice. RAM is more effective (except within the final mile or so), but has extremely limited usage. 21 cell launcher, with 2-5 missiles per intercept with incredibly limited ability to reload at sea, and no magazine (aside from the launcher itself). Compare that to CIWS which has ammunition for 1-2 intercepts, but between ready storage and magazines you’ve got ammunition for dozens of intercepts.
I still don’t think the US navy knows what it wants its ships to do.
