    CW: Meat description and pictures

I’ve had “bring your food to work” parties in Germany for Christmas. Coworkers from Poland bringing pierogi, from Morocco and Tunisia bringing home-baked breads and delicious tahini and making Moroccan tea, from China bringing homemade dumplings, me and other Spanish coworkers bringing Spanish omelettes, gazpacho, salmorejo, or empanada de atún. What did the Germans bring?

Germans don’t really care about food the way most other cultures do. Sure, German bread is great, bread in Spain actually sucks ass, but having one good staple doesn’t make up for an entire culture that sees food more as sustain than as celebration. I’ve never had worse slop in my life than eating in German canteens, and I’ve eaten in canteens in plenty of countries. It’s not just canteens, it’s literally impossible finding a half-decent pizza in Germany, my ex-girlfriend from Belarus said she missed gas station pizza slices from Minsk, and when she came to Spain for the first time with me she almost cried when having an average pizza here.

Boohoo people at work got their souls drained and put in literally zero effort. Maybe you should not eat in shitty canteens, where the focus lies on the food being cheap. And even then I have seen great canteens at university where you would have salad bars, fruit salad bars and 6 different main dishes, different pretty much every day in a month.

You don’t like Germany? That is cool, there is a lot of shit to unpack and yes many people don’t give a fuck about food. Many people don’t really give a fuck about anything these days. If you would be really interested in German cuisine you would do some searching. Not that you would have to, but why the hell would I take your shallow experiences for anything else? I have atleast 10 cooking books and there is not a single “Metigel” (the abomination you posted) to be found.

I love immigrants and especially the new varieties of food they bring. Why do you think they long for the food of their origin? Maybe it is because everything here sucks but maybe it is because it is a piece of home they can take with them.

Sorry if I sound pissed but it kinda sucks if people in leftist spaces pitch their ignorance (bordering on bigotry) stemming from a few experiences and hear say as knowledge.
