I’m admittedly pretty ignorant about the whole thing

This is excellent except for Eric’s insistence that this is an abandonment of marxism rather than the successful implementation of the DOTP and correct adaptation to the existing material conditions. His insistence that these features of the party are an abandonment of “marxist dogma” instead of the result of marxism being a science that changes and adapts based on new information is the ultimate flaw in his analysis.

He has the perspective that marxism is a religion instead of a science, every incorrect thing he says stems from this.

Could also be that he’s just hiding it for the goal of promoting China. Who knows.

If you ask the question “Does it benefit us if the west thinks we’re communist?” then the answer is no and it is obviously beneficial to downplay it. It hurts international communism because we can’t use China as a selling point with people who think it’s not communist, but it directly benefits China for the western liberals to have uncertainty about whether it’s actually communism or not as it makes them make incorrect decisions about the country. So even from a dialectical analysis I can see the argument for deliberately spreading the idea that it’s not.

Yeah it’s fine, pretty decent, he’s just missing the crucial element. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for libs though because COMMUNISM is scary or w/e.
