On January 7th, 37-year-old Renee Good was murdered by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. While a considerable amount of the discussion online has been about the direction her wheels were turning and things like that, truthfully, I think it’s just fundamentally bad to shoot a person to death with a gun if you happen to be a state mercenary enforcing an incredibly racist federal policy, regardless of the circumstances.
The murder has since prompted a wave of vigils and protests, not only in Minneapolis, but also in virtually every major city in the country. The demands are justice for Good in particular, and the abolition of ICE in general, to avenge its many victims. The Trump administration has done all they can to inflame the situation, designating Good a “domestic terrorist” and saying that the agent who shot her will be immune from prosecution.
Protests and resistance to this administration’s policies have, encouragingly, had an element of international solidarity - not only are flags from countries throughout Latin America (and also Palestine) present, but speakers in protests have even been actively condemning the recent imperialist actions against Venezuela. For it is, of course, one joint struggle. The imperial boomerang always returns - and in the modern day, it returns rapidly.

I think we keep telling ourselves this as cope but that’s not guaranteed. Nazi German didn’t “snap” until outside forces invaded and overthrew it. They successfully killed all their opposition and took power.
I see this all over Reddit rn. Everyone is talking about what we should do to ICE “after” this is over. Dreaming of an imaginary future where they can punish ICE instead of looking at the reality as it exists currently, and asking what we should do about it RIGHT NOW. Delaying action and shrugging off responsibility is what it is. We can talk about how we will punish ICE when we are in the position to do so, right now it’s masturbatory wishcasting.
The reason they’re doing that is because the situation right now is fucking grim. Fascist chudlings have been deputized by the state and are given full carte blanche to seize, torture, deport and kill whoever they want - and nobody is going to do anything about it. States aren’t, Cities aren’t, National Guard won’t, China ain’t gonna save us, cops sure as shit won’t. Nobody can deal with this fucking reality and ask what we should do next, to which the answer is get armed and mobilized. We all still are in the stage of collective delusion where we think this problem will solve itself by the arc of history, when we have 0 (ZERO!) armed bodies of men on our side.
We are all Palestinians and we have no Hamas. Our “axis of resistance” is 5 guys dancing in frog suits. Not one ICE agent has been seriously injured or killed on duty in 2025, except one accident I think. We’re just fish sitting in a barrel.

Democrat politicians and elites aren’t spineless nor are they cowards. They are extremely ruthless and brutal when they attack their left flank, Gaza protesters and overthrow enemy nations.
They just don’t actually want what they say they want. What they are, is liars. They are perfectly happy with us being stomped into the ground by fascist pigs, why would they care? Anti-ICE sentiment just means they will get voted in next time around, so why get rid of ICE?
So they’ll see us and hear us and offer to “rein in” ICE with vague promises that they have no intention of following through on.
I agree. I think they do detest Trump, and that’s where they are too cowardly to do anything due to their appreciation of his policies (i.e. they detest his person for rather petty reasons). So I say things like “spineless” rather sardonically.

I don’t think they actually care at a deep level about any of that, just find it gauche and embarrassing. They chose to focus on it so they can ignore all the things he does they agree with. But as Trump normalizes all of the absurd shit he’s doing, Liberals will find it less and less embarrassing. Libs love the status quo and Trump is shifting the status quo, and they go along with it.
